Cycling thermostats continually cycle the heating element off and on to maintain a constant inner temperature. This particular cycling thermostat has a limit of 145 degrees Fahrenheit and a differential of 20 degrees. Meaning that with this thermostat, the heating element will cut out at 145 degrees and cycle back on once the internal temperature drops by 20 degrees.

Dryer running but not heating
Popped open rear access panel and logged on to website. Performed search for "dryer not heating" and came across helpful tips and ordered all components pertaining to heating system and removed and replaced them. Working better than better and saved myself hundreds of dollars. Highly recommend for those "do it yourselfers"!

Dryer does not heat
After much grief and finding out that to replace my existing washer/dryer unit would cost about $ 1200, I was doing some research and found Partselect. I replaced two
thermostats and the thermal fuse in the dryer and now it works better than even before it went bad !. Turned out that I did not need the element, but I'm keeping it anyways in case I do at some point in the future.

dryer ran, but no heat at all.
I removed the hex screws from the fuse, unhooked the wire contacts and replaced with new fuse. I then plugged in the dryer and tried it. It worked!!
I then went on to unplug appliance again, replace the thermostats (while I had the back open and in case bad thermostats could have lead to fuse going bad)... roughly the same process as fuse. We've been enjoying dry warm clothes ever since, and I'm sure that it is running more consistently than it had been for the past several months. I am a repair GOD.

Drum turns, but no heat.
Wasn't sure which part bad. So replaced all appropriate heating parts with your knowledgeable help. Now works great. Much cheaper than having a tech come! Easily repaired. Just remove some screws and replace. Hardest part was removing the unit from the built in cabinet.

Dryer not heating
After searching on here, I decided to just replace the 3-components listed on this site (not the heating element wire kit). I didn't test the heating element and would save that for last if the replacement parts didn't work. Off the bat the fuse was the problem - no resistence reading on my $6 multimeter like the new one. I didn't bother testing the other components. Since I wasn't sure why the fuse blew I decided to replace the Cycling and High Limit Thermostat at the same time to be safe. It took me longer to move the unit to access the back panel and take off the dozen or so screws then it did to replace the 3 components. The cost of the parts with shipping was less than the trip and diagnostic charge from an appliance repairman.

Dryer is able to run. But no heat comes.

Hello Edward, thank you for your question. The first parts to check when the heat does not come on but the unit will run are the thermostats in the unit. We would recommend testing the PartSelect Number: PS11741495 Thermostat, and High Limit Thermostat PartSelect Number: PS11741678, and One Time Use Thermal Fuse PartSelect Number: PS11741511. If those parts are tested and found to be ok, the issue would be with the heating element and that part number is Heating Element - 3000W 240V PartSelect Number: PS11740608. Good luck with your repair!

Does this fit Whirlpool, YLTE5243DQ1? Our dry won't heat up and was told to replace the thermostat. Or should I get the High Limit Thermostat Part Number: PS11741678? I am confused about the difference between Cycling Thermostat and high limit thermostat.
For model number YLTE5243DQ1

Hello Shannon, thank you for your inquiry. The Cycling thermostat PS11741495 continually cycles the heating element off and on to maintain a constant inner temperature. The High Limit thermostat PS11741678 acts as a safety mechanism to keep the dryer from overheating. If your thermostat is malfunctioning, your dryer may not heat. We recommend replacing the High Limit. We are pleased to have been able to help.

This gas dryer runs with auto mode and heat comes out normally at beginning. During heating, it stops at time 0:07. But clothes are still wet. I did self diagnostic test following instruction on manual and digits show 8:88 that means system good. So i can't figure out what problem it is.

Hi Edward, thank you for your question. When you are experiencing an issue like this there are a few parts that you will have to test to determine what is causing your issue. For all of these parts you can test them with a multi meter. First you will have to test your thermostats and thermal fuses to make sure they are all functioning correctly. After that you will want to test parts in this order, your m series coils, igniter itself, or your radiant flame sensor. You may also want to check your regulator just to make sure that part is functioning properly as well. Something else you should also check would be your filter and ducts. Make sure there is absolutely no blockage that would restrict air flow in your appliance. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Hello Benny, Thank you for your question. Our sources suggest that it is likely the cycling thermostat that is defective under part PS11741495, but it is also possible that the main drive motor switch under part PS11746107 for your model could be defective as well, so we suggest checking the motor switch before purchasing any parts. We hope this helps.
