The part arrived in good time. Though clearly it was the right part in every detail- but one. The opening for the spindle wasn't completely open and I had to drill out the end. Also just slightly too small an opening- one or two mm off, just enough that it wouldn't slide into place, no matter how much I tried. In the end a block of wood and framing hammer 'helped' it slide into place. It will never come off again.

How do I separate the the top section from the bottom section of the agitator?

are there supposed to be splines inside the base that connect to the splines that come up from the Transmission? or is the bolt supposed to hold the base tight to the shaft?

Hello Michael, thank you for your question. On the end of the shaft that sticks up from the Gearcase PS16220913. The Drive Block PS11741977, connects to the gearcase. We suggest looking at both videos we show on installation found on our site. Hope this helps, good luck with this repair.
