Broken Dryer Knob
First let me just say that Partselect.com is now one my stored favorites in my web browser. I came home from a business trip and saw a pair of pliers on the dryer. I thought that was odd until my wife informed me that the knob on the dryer had broken. So she was using the pliers to select the cycle. Somehow she knew where the missing pointer was actually pointing. Since the dryer was over 5 years old I saw this as an opportunity to upgrade both appliances. Not with my frugal wife. A search of the Internet popped up partselect. I ordered Wednesday morning and the parts where on my doorstep late Thursday. Trust me I was very surprised. Everything worked perfectly. Two thumbs up!!!

This unit is a combination Washer/Dryer and a squealing noise started in the dryer.
It was obvious that the noise was coming from the drum support rollers. All of the ordered merchandise came quickly and as ordered. Be sure to order 2 drum roller kits and 2 roller shafts because there are 2 on the machine. Disconnect the power to the machine. Take the panel directly above the washer door off. Take the control panel off, but no need to disconnect the controls. There are a few wires that you will have to remove from the door, so make a note as to how these are put on so you will get them back correctly. Remove the dryer door. Once the two panels are removed you can see the dryer motor and Idler Pulley. Draw a picture as to how the belt goes around the motor pulley and the idler pulley. Slip the belt off of the motor pulley and carefully remove the dryer drum. When you accomplish this, you can see the drum rollers and the idler pulley very well. Take a half inch wrench and take the drum roller shaft off. Take the retainer off the roller and replace both the roller and shaft with a new one because if it is squealing this is probably the wise thing to do, as the bearing rolls over the shaft. Replace the washers onto the shaft along with the roller and reattach to the dryer. I replaced the Idler Pulley wheel and bearing as a precaution to avoid having to go into the machine again. (Note) it is held on with a C clamp that you can remove with a screw driver. I also ordered a lint filter as mine was slightly worn. I also ordered a new belt because the machine was 11 years old and the old belt was slightly cracked. When putting the new belt on, be careful to put the rib side next to the dryer drum. Place the belt over the back part of the dryer before putting the drum into the machine. Once the drum is placed into the machine and before putting the drum on the rollers you reach into the back and get the belt and place the rib side over the drum and onto the pulleys the same way that you drew your picture. Once the belt is on the idler pulley and motor pulley you can raise the drum up over the rollers and then spin it around a few times to see that the belt isn't kinked and that the drum and blower move as they should. Make certain the rib side is next to the drum and that it is installed like your picture. I took the blower cover loose and some other parts while I was in the machine and vacuumed it out good to prevent fires and to make certain that it was free of lint. Put everything back and the machine works like new.

Drying time was taking longer than it should.
I simply went on line and ordered the part. I had it shipped to my office since I am here all day, M-F. I received the part in 2 days. I took it home, pulled out the old lint filter and slid in the new one. It is amazing how much more efficient my dryer is. The old lint filter had about a 6 inch tear in it so it was not catching all the lint.

Dryer takes too long to dry. When i turn it of it always says 99 minutes. Will a new lint filter fix the problem?
For model number MDE5500ayw
Hello Jean, Thank you for your inquiry. It can fix the problem, however it could also be an issue with the heat, so I would also check the cycling and hi-limit thermostats, the blower wheel, the heating element, the venting system, and the moisture sensor. You can test the parts with a multimeter. If you are unfamiliar with how a multimeter functions, there are YouTube videos available to assist you. Hope this helps!

Does part number come wrapped and sealed in plastic or is the lint filter not factory sealed, but simply placed in the shipping carton. Is the Maytag name on the body of the part.
For model number MDG3500BWW
Hi Jerome,
Thank you for your question. All of our parts are OEM parts and they come to us factory sealed. I do not believe however, that this part actually has the Maytag name emboldened on it directly. It would be on the packaging around it. Good luck with your repair.

My dry control panel won't light up, it has power because the light comes on in the dryer but there is no response or when you push the buttons
For model number MDE5500AYW
Hi Vivian,
Thank you for your question. If the touchpad is not responding, you will need to check both the touchpad and the electronic control board to see which part is causing the issue. You will also need to check the wiring between them to see if it is working fine. You can test the parts with a multimeter. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Original lint filter came with gasket inside the perimeter on 3 sides. The filter you show is only the plastic frame, linen mesh screen but no gasket. How does this version catch the lint ? It seems to me the lint will pass right past the filter and out the vent tube.
For model number MDG7500AWW
Hello Richard, Thank you for the question. The manufacture has redesigned the filter and the gasket is no longer required. The filter filter may look a bit different but it will still work the same as the original. Hope this helps, good luck with this repair!

I purchased a new lint screen from Amazon and it is wide enough but not deep enough so it only traps part of the lint.
Before I purchase this, what are the spectacular on it. 12.5 inches wide by how many inches long/deep? I disposed of my other one. Live and learn. Please help!
Thank you.
For model number mDE8416aYW
Hello Lynn, thank you for your question. It is 12.5 inches wide and the depth is approximately 7-1/2". On our site, there is a grid behind the part that is mapped out in 1" squares for approximation of measurement. We hope this helps.
