One of my door bins and filter cap broke.
I searched the model number for my Whirlpool refrigerator on the internet and partselect.com came up so I clicked on it. The site asked for my model number which I typed in and there it was...a picture of my refrigerator in full detail and very well diagramed and labeled. I found the number of the parts I needed, added them to my cart and paid. In a few days (2 I think which is an awsome delivery time) the parts were iin my front door step, very well packaged and in imaculate condition. I took them out of the box and installed them in less than 15 minutes. A parts internet order and repair has NEVER gone as quick and easy as this did. Took the broken cap off. Actually it practically fell off. Put the new cap in place, turned it to the right and Presto! it locked in and works fine. It took longer to get it out of the box than it did to install it :)

Needed to replace water filter cap
Replacing this part was a breeze. But I could not believe how fast the part arrived at my doorstep - was expecting it to arrive in 3 days but it arrived in 2. And the part exactly the right one - the pictures on the sight helped a great deal in correctly identifying it.

Cap for filter broke the tabs off when I forgot to depress the release.
The cap will only fit on one way. Align with tabs on filter, twist on. Press the filter into place and press to seat. Locks into place.

The plastic cap to water filter wes broken.

water filter cap broken; dryer lint screen ripped
1. Water filter cartridge--just twisted the end cap onto the back of the filter cartridge while aligning the grooves properly. Then pushed the new filter cartridge into the housing until it clicked. That was it.
2. Dryer lint filter. Just installed like the old filter; was a direct replacement.
My old cap broke when I pushed the new Water Filter in
Super easy, I just twisted the old one off and put the new one on. I'm 73 years old and if I can do it anyone can. LOL

When i attempted to change my water filter, i actually broke the cap while pulling on it because the release tab is not releasing the filter! I recently moved into this house, so this is the first time i'm replacing the filter!!! do you have any suggestions on how i can get this old filter out? i will be ordering a new cap today, but it really won't do me much good if the filter remains stuck. thanks so much. anna marie

Thank you for your question. The only thing that I could suggest is perhaps getting a big enough wrench or set of pliers long enough to get around the filter on the inside of the housing to pull it out. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

How do you change the water filter on this model? My cap is broken and i will be replacing it shortly. In the mean time i need to change the filter and i am not sure how to. The directions on the new filter are rather vague. Thank you. Charles laffey
