Don’t do this, but we prop the washer lid open so it doesn’t get musty between use; we put a sock or something in there to prevent the striker fro closing. When a family member hops up on the washer to get to the highest shelf in the laundry closet it snaps! And the. The washer won’t function.
REALLY easy-
Just unscrewed the two screws with a Phillips, slid the old one out, the new one set in perfectly, and used the same screws to hold it in place. 2 minute task total.

What does a lid striker do on the washer
For model number GTW460ASJ5WW
PartSelect logo
Hi Inda, Thank you for your question. The lid strike is located on the lid. When you close the lid it activates the lid switch. The lid switch is normally located beneath the main top and is in series with the motor circuit and must be activated for the motor to operate. The strike will push against the lid switch lever and closes the switch. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

When I did my last load, the top wouldn't open when finished. I pulled and it popped open but now won't begin the cycle (the "lid is locked" light won't light up). Do I need to replace only the latch or the entire locking system? And can you advise the part number and is is available for retail purchase other than on-line? Thanks
For model number GTW330ASKOWW

Grinding noise during agitation
For model number Gtw465ASNWW
PartSelect logo
Hi Jeanne, thank you for reaching out. We have researched the model and would suggest making sure the washer is leveled properly, and it is not overloaded. If the issue remains, the problem might be with the tub bearings. The bearings come with the transmission assembly, part number PS16729511. We hope this information helps!

Water keeps coming into washer and won't stop. Before this happened it was not filling to correct level but now it will overflow if I don't turn the water off
For model number Gtw330askoww

Hello Sue, thank you for the question. According to our research, if the washer is over filling, the issue is with the electronic control board, part number PS16874148. It manages the washer's functions, such as filling, washing, draining, and spinning. We hope this helps!

Washer fills then goes to soak and wont go in the other cycles just stay in soak
For model number GTW220ACK6WW
PartSelect logo
Hello John, Thank you for the question. This could indicate the Timer Switch that controls the cycles is defective and may need to be replaced. The Timer for this model is part of the User Interface Control Board, so the Board would need to be replaced. You can also test the Lid Switch Assembly to make sure it is telling the Board the Lid is closed and safe to start the Wash Cycle. We hope this helps!
