where ic e dispencer spring is held to door broke at mold
after ordering ice dispencer repair kit, and removing the outer parts found out that the problem was the ice dispencer door shell . this part is no longer available. It seems to me that if whirlpool wants to have return customers they have to stand behind the product. Well I made a L bracket and drilled a hole to to recieve the spring keeper and glued this to the housing and used a 3 1/12"finishing nail as the pin all works fine

Warm Air Getting Into Freezer
Patience is a virtue. The kit really works. 1st, lift the front plate of the ice dispencer by placing a flat head screw driver into the two slots at the bottom of the panel. When the panel is lifted up slightly at the bottom, push up on the panel to remove it. Careful not to break panel and the wires attached. Next, remove the wiring panel by removing the two screws on left and right sides. Then, unplug the old black ice cover from the wiring panel (this is the heating plug that you will nolonger need). Next, remove the parts and replace them with the parts in the kit, noting where each part comes from, etc. All parts in the kit are necessary and should be used. Some of the replacements need trial and error. Patience will be important. Also needed is a person that loves to solve problems, especially because the kit does not come with instructions. But the kit definitely works!

Ice door was broken
1) At bottom of ice maker trim there are two small slots at right and left ; use screw driver to pry away from door; lift trim upward away from door 2)using 1/4" nutdriver remove screws from 4 corners, 3) remove 2 screws from control panel 4) disconnect all wires/cables and set exterior panel aside. 5) locate 2" pin that runs through door spring and use needle nose pliers to remove round clip on left end of pin don't lose this clip 6) while pushing ice maker lever (where you would push with your glass) use needle nose to pull the long pin out to the right 7) Remove all remaining parts by hand (i.e. the pin, the dash pot and white lever and the ice door) 8)slide new control lever into slots on exterior side of the new door 9) -tricky part- using needle nose, push pin back through the right hinge point, the new lever, the new door, the new spring and the left hinge point (note the new door has no electric wire connector) 10) using the needle nose, carefully replace the little round clip on the left end of the metal pin. 11) reconnect all the wires (don't worry about the wire that had been connected to the door wire, just fold it aside) 12) replace two screws screws in control panel and four screws at corners of exterior panel 13) snap outer trim panel back in place.

Door chute broken
First removed the outside cover plate which was some what scary not to break plastic cover. Had read about another discription of removal of cover to start from the bottom because the top is inserted in slots that would have broken if removed from the top. After cover plate removed it was simple to remove the broken parts and install the new parts. The most difficult part to put back in was the spring and rod had to be inserted the same time.

ice distribution door broke
At their site was ordering each piece by # and cost and it was adding up to be costly. Went to partselect and was doing the same and up pops the ice door kit. Was a little wary because my original had a heater tape to it. Got the kit and installed not a problem at all. 100% satisfied would recommend to anyone.

Ice dispenser freezing up, dispenser door not closing completely.
First off, if you have the stainless steel panel inserts on your refrigerator you'll need to remove those to do this repair. I kept looking for the access holes on the underside of the dispenser panel that you're supposed to insert a screwdriver into to pry it off. It wasn't until I removed the freezer door handle, slid the lower stainless panel insert out, and removed the rail just beneath the dispenser that I could see and access these holes. I also removed the upper stainless panel and rail just above the dispenser to allow enough movement get the dispenser cover off and out. The rest of the repair is pretty straightforward. The old ice door was beaten up and not closing completely, this was letting warm air into the freezer which was melting and re-freezing. This kit fixed the problem.

Ice door holder arm broken
The hardest part was getting the front cover plate off. I used two kitchen knifes one in each slot on the bottom of the plate and pried it off and unplug it. I removed one screw to release arm. I then used long nose pliers to remove the pin on door arm assemble. Then unplug door heater. New door has no heater. The heater had cooked the plastic arm, which caused the arm to fail. Then reassemble in reverse order.

Hi Randall, thank you for your question. You may have to replace your door kit or the ice lever itself however I would suggest you take a look at the parts to determine which one is broken on your appliance. Good luck with your repair.

My ice maker works well making ice, i just cant get it to come down thru the dispenser. When we removed the ice basket one of the long parts broke off, still have a spring that we can put it back together but unable to get the blue button to work to help with removal of the ice basket. Not sure what i need to get this fixed.
For model number ED5PBAXV700
PartSelect logo
Hello Doreen, thank you for your question. Sometimes the blue button will get water and ice inside and won't press in enough to release the ice bucket. We would recommend using a hair dryer to warm up the ice bucket so that it can be removed for inspection. Once that is removed you will want to check the ice bucket for broken parts as well as where the bucket slides down into. Sometimes, the shaft, and coupling sleeve will break and need to be replaced. I hope this helps!

The water dispenser on the refrigerator begin to drip and would not stop. I turned off the water supply. What part is malfunctioning?
For model number SS25AFXLQ01
PartSelect logo
Hello Robert, thank you for your question. That problem is most likely caused by the water valve sticking open. We would recommend replacing the water inlet valve first, which is PartSelect Number: PS3497634. If that does not fix the issue, the problem could be with the dispenser tube which is Part #: PS886371 or the micro switch which is Part #: PS11738948. Good luck with your repair.

In the ice door replacement kit, it says heater is no longer needed so it does not include the heater strip. In the attached video it shows using the existing heater strip. Which requires you to peel back factory set gasket in order to install. So my question is....is the heater not needed or is it needed? if needed, why wouldn’t the kit include it. if not needed, why does the video show re-installing it. please advise
For model number KSRB25FKSS04
PartSelect logo
Hello Scott, thank you for your question. The heater ribbon is no longer needed and therefore will not be included with this part. If you can remove the old heater and install it into the new part that is fine, however due to the improved foam design it is not required. I hope this helps.
