Hello Jim, Thank you for the question. If the switch was defective it will not effect the power to the controls. It may not go into the spin cycle but the board will still operate. If the appliance is getting power but the controls will not power on, it is more then likley a defective electronic control, PartSelect Number PS11770139. You can touch the POWER button to exit the cycle, then touch POWER again to release the lid. Hi Brendan, Thank you for your inquiry. The switch portion of the lock is approximately 6 inches long and is divided into 2 parts. One part of the switch is bisque colored and has the cable attached to it. The other part of the switch is white in color. The cable is long and it is grey and tan in color.
