Fridge smelled like something electronic was burning
Removed the back cover of the fridge with it still pluged in. The next time the compressor tried to kick on, a small piece of black plastic next to the black tank caught fire, and then went out. I unpluged the fridge, unpluged the two wires feeding the black box. Then the box unpluged from the tank. I searched on the internet for the part using the model #. It ended up being a overload/ptc or relay. There was a smaller black box attached with I think is some sort of an overload. I unplugged the overload and it plugged right into the new relay I had overnighted. Although the new relay was white (not black) and the plug attachments were in different locations, it work great.

Smelled burning plastic
I removed the cardboard cover from the back of the fridge. I was not sure where to begin then the compressor kicked on and a flame came from the bottom of relay that mounts to compressor, so i unplugged fridge and let cool .I removed part that burned and looked on this site to identify what it is. The part has been updated to a new design which is now a white plastic. I also replaced run capacitor .Put the new parts on and it was back to working .The sleeve that comes with the new run capacitor didn't fit under the lock wire clip so i left off.

Hi Jerome, Thank you for your inquiry. If your refrigerator is not working, There are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the electronic control board, the capacitor, the condenser fan motor, the evaporator fan motor and the overload/start relay combination. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Every time after electric power failure the refrigerator go to showroom mode and does not reset until 24 hours or little more. And then operate normal. What is the problem? Thank you
For model number GSCS3PGXCFSS

Hi Otilo, Thank you for the question. Whenever the power is disconnected from your appliance, your board will generally reset. This is probably why it is going back into showroom mode after a power failure. To exit Showroom mode press and holding LIGHT and LOCK at the same time for 3 seconds. I hope this helps!

Fridge quit cooling. Now if it is plugged in only the light comes on. Cant hear anything running. Can I use a power meter to check the relay without the fridge being plugged in? And how to use the meter please
For model number GSH22JSXASS

Hello Michael, Thank you for the question. We have attached a video on how to use the meter. To test the Overload/Start Relay Combination, You need to test them individually from each bottom pin LT and RT. to the top center pin as described. These readings added together will get the total reading between the 2- on the bottom. So, by your measurements they are 10.4 ohms. We hope this helps!
