Dryer turns off before drying cycle is complete. On both the timed cycle and the dry sensor cycle. I installed a new vent hose because it did have a lot of lint in it.

Hi Susan,
Thank you for your question. If your dryer is shutting off too soon, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the fuse, the drive motor, the timer, the door switch, the catch, the strike and the belt. We hope this helps! Good luck with the repair!
When I put any weight on my dryer while it is running, the dryer cuts off. Example: I’m elderly and when I bend over to pick something up off the floor, I put my hand on the dryer to steady myself. If the dryer is running, it shuts off. Thank you

Hello Susan, Thank you for the question. This could be an indication the Door Switch has a loose wire or may need to be replaced. We hope this helps!

Hello Greg, thank you for your question. There could be a few reasons why your dryer will not start. The dryer won't start if the door switch senses that the door is open. To test your door switch, set your multimeter to the lowest position for ohms of resistance. Touch the black meter probe to one metal prong on the switch and the red probe to the other. Press in on the switch pole. If the meter doesn't change, the switch is bad and needs to be replaced. Part number PS12722948. The push to start switch can be tested in the same way. Part number PS3487190. If your dryer won't advance through the drying cycle, the timer might have failed. You can test the timer with multimeter. You should get a reading of zero. If you get a high reading, then the timer motor is bad and it's time to replace it. Part number PS11759041.These are the most common parts that would cause your dryer to not start so we suggest checking these first. We hope this helps. Good luck with your repair!
Removed the front Dryer panel. Left drum in place and lifted it up slightly to get access to motor drive. Slipped belt in place and put panel back on. This was a first attempt ever at fixing an appliance and it was no big deal.
First I found and watched three videos on how to open the dryer and replace the igniter. Then I opened the dryer, but I did not remove the belt as suggested in the video, and then I removed the ignitor and flame detecter as the videos had shown. I got on-line and ordered the new parts from PartsSelect in the afternoon and had them in my hands the next morning by 9:30 am. I installed the new parts and everything worked fine again. You must be very careful with the igniter to not touch it with hands or anything else. I practiced puting in the old parts first.
I had to take most of the dryer apart because there is no rear access to the motor. It turned out to be easy to dissasembel the dryer. The only problem that I had was that I could not figure out how to route the belt around the motor and the idol pullies. I could not find anywhere that gave instructions on how to properly tension the belt. I finally figured out that the idoler pulley needs to be locked in place on the right side of the engie mount. Then the belt needs to be routed over idoler pulley and under the motor pulley. Finally release the idoler pully from the locked postion to put tension on the belt. It really turned out to be pretty easy.
